  • International Treaty on Plant Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture (ITPGRFA)

    This treaty provides a legal agreemnt among states for sustainable use of all plant genetic resources for food and agriculture and the fair and equitable sharing of the benefits arising out of their use

  • Nagoya Protocol

    The Nagoya Protocol on Access to Genetic Resources and the Fair and Equitable Sharing of Benefits Arising from their Utilization to the Convention on Biological Diversity is a supplementary agreement to the 1992 Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) which aims to implement one of the objectives of of the CBD : the fair and equitable sharing of benefits arising out of the utilization of genetic resources

  • Cartegna Protocol

    The Cartagena Protocol on Biosafety to the Convention on Biological Diversity is an international agreement which aims to ensure the safe handling, transport and use of living modified organisms (LMOs) resulting from modern biotechnology that may have adverse effects on biological diversity, taking also into account risks to human health

National Authorities


  • Natioanl Biodiversity Authority (NBA)

    The NBA is a Statutory, Autonomous Body and it performs facilitative, regulatory and advisory function for the Government of India on issues of conservation, sustainable use of biological resources and fair and equitable sharing of benefits arising out of the use of biological resources

  • Protection of plant varieties and farmers rights authority (PPVFRA)

    PPVFRA is the statutory authority under the Protection of Plant Varieties and Farmers' Rights Act, 2001 for the registration and protection of Plant varieties and Farmers Rights in India

  • Office of the Controller General of Patents,Designs & Trade Marks

    This is the national authority for registration of Patents, Trademarks, Copyrights ,Designs and Geographical Indications

  • Copyright Office

    The copyright office is the statutory authority under the The Copyright (Amendment) Act, 2012 for the registration and protection of copyrights in India
