Genebanks

Genebanks around the world, small and big, have been providing yeoman service to mankind in general and to the breeders in particular. Genebanks have faithfully collected and conserved the plant genetic resources. They are also the hubs of knowledge—ranging from taxonomy to genomics—related to plant genetic resources. We acknowledge the researchers who have contributed in the accumulation of a huge body of information that present day informatics systems are able to harness.

DNA Databanks

The International Nucleotide Sequence Database Collaboration, which comprises the DNA DataBank of Japan (DDBJ), the European Nucleotide Archive (ENA), and GenBank at NCBI that host an annotated collection of all publicly available DNA sequences. They have catalysed the research as well as documentation. These databanks have been a model for being accurate, efficient, update, and open access. They have helped evolve the rules related to access, data usage, confidentiality as well as privacy. We acknowledge the researchers around the world who have generated the incredible amount of data and the databanks that have stored them for manifold uses.
